Friendster

Friendster is the original social networking site.  Launched in 2002, it created a powerful new category of social interaction.

Though the space would eventually come to be dominated by fellow portfolio company Facebook, Friendster pioneered a new era of interconnectedness through the Web that we today take for granted.  Friendster has morphed into an international social gaming site with more than 100 million registered users.

Friendster was acquired by MOL Global in 2009.
